Code of Conduct
General
(1) The Bureau (as hereinafter defined) is in the business, inter alia, of collating, synthesising and/or processing information relating to Individuals (as hereinafter defined) for purposes of assessing their credit-worthiness;
(2) Subject always to the Act (as hereinafter defined) and applicable law, information received by the Bureau includes information supplied by Members (as hereinafter defined) of the Bureau relating to natural persons who are the Customers (as hereinafter defined) of Members;
(3) Subject always to the Act and applicable law, the Bureau shall provide Credit Reports (as hereinafter defined) on Individuals to Members;
(4) Information supplied to the Bureau and information provided by the Bureau includes, inter alia, Customer Information (as hereinafter defined) relating to account particulars which is confidential;
(5) The Bureau and the Members desire to maintain the general confidentiality of Customer Information received by the Bureau subject only to such disclosure as may be authorised or permitted by the Act or applicable law;
(6) The Bureau and the Members desire to address concerns relating to the protection of rights to information, privacy rights of Individuals and use of Credit Reports and ensure transparency and accountability in the operations of the Bureau by observing the terms appearing or referred to herein;
(7) The Bureau and the Members agree that confidential customer information shall be supplied to, and provided by, the Bureau subject to the terms appearing or referred to herein;
(8) The Members agree to request and use confidential customer information from the Bureau subject to the terms appearing or referred to herein;
(9) The Bureau and the Members agree to regulate the operations of the Bureau subject to the terms appearing or referred to herein; and
(10) The Bureau and the Members agree to ensure compliance with this Code and to process complaints as to non-compliance of this Code through the Compliance Committee (as hereinafter defined) subject to the terms appearing or referred to herein,
NOW this Code of Conduct is established by the Bureau for and on behalf of itself and the Members.
